Nearly 20 years ago, a number of artists in the Valley Watercolor Society started meeting regularly to paint together, experimenting with watermedia materials and techniques. Originally known as The Friday Painters, this spin-off group evolved into LA Experimental Artists (LAEA), a group of artists who meet monthly at VIVA to reinvent old and explore new techniques in collage, assemblage, watermedia, monotypes, and digital art, sharing friendship and ideas as they go.
LAEA held their first show in 2006, and since then the initial group has inspired the formation of additional experimental artist groups.
This show features over 100 works from 18 artists: Ruth Banarer, Betty Beam, Judi Birnberg, Donna Geist Buch, Linda L. Carlson, Susan Gesundheit, Ben Goldman, Marilyn Haber, Charlotte Jones, Lina Kogan, Susan Kuss, Dori Marler, Helen Merken, Chris Meyer, Trish Meyer, Rea Nagel, Ilana Tauber, and Joan Vaupen. (See the column to the right to download individual Artist Statements as PDFs.)

Many of the pieces are very reasonably priced, so this is a great opportunity to add to your collection, or pick up a piece by a favorite artist.
